The battle ends and we regain our footing. The woman who looks like Larael who is about 15’ off the ground tied up on a pole. There is a large black obsidian stone as well in the room. Pearl casts Spiderclimb on Glittr who climbs the pole to check out the woman tied on the pole. He attempts to use dispel magic on the energetic bands holding her, but nothing happens. RC moves around to observe the obsidian stone in the room. As he approaches he sees a large stone pedestal that it sits upon. There are writing and runes written all over the base of the pedestal. In celestial, he sees the words “Shadow Shard” carved into it.
Brylwynn uses comprehend language on it. As she touches it, the runes light up as a dark energy absorbed into her as 50 points of necrotic energy. She falls down and quivers on the ground.
Caulkin examines the pole more trying to figure out a way to get Larael down. The Shadow Shard is not legendary, and Legend Lore does not work on it. Caulkin takes a look around the room more and he finds it strange how deeply empty this room is besides the pillar, the Shadow Shard, and the walls look like every other maze wall we’ve ever seen. He recalls what the snake woman said as she died and he gathers she was the thing guarding the room. Brylwynn has a feeling that the tiger daddy (Rakasha) and the snake woman disappeared in the same way.
She thinks back to the research we did on the Rakshasa and she gathers that they were both created or came from the Nine Hells.
Bahamut is not acting any differently.
Lliira contained Hephaestus somewhere undisclosed, but this magic is contained within the Shadow Shard. She blessed someone who helped have a hand in banishing him.
Whatever is holding Larael is aberration magic and the Shadow Shard is a mix of necromancy and evocation magic.
We take a long rest and nothing happens. We roll a 1 on a D8 roll. The team rests and beefs up Glittr in attempting to break the chains once again with a dispel magic ability. Even with a strong roll, he is unable to break this enchantment. Pearl identifies that a 9th Level Spell Imprisonment is what is holding suspected Laral back.
Caulkin remembers that he has The Dagger of Kelemvor
He now has resistance to radiant damage. His dagger begins to glow and becomes singed with the seal of Kelemvor and becomes a magical item, giving him points in Kelemvor’s ranks.
For a bonus action, he can active the dagger for an actionless Divine Favor Spell
This dagger levels up and gets stronger the more he kills enemies with it.
The group hurls magical attacks and weapons at it as it begins to crumble. It finally crumbles to the ground and disappears into a puff of smoke. The runes and glyph on the pedestals begin to mirage away as the magic binds the sharp irradiate off of it. As this happens, we feel a strange pressure in our heads, a similar pressure we feel when teleporting or changing planes. As this happens we poof back into the material plane.
Two things immediately happen:
First, we see the ruby stone of the necklace cracks and then turns to dust. By destroying the obelisk, we destroyed whatever magic was holding us in the necklace.
Secondly, the five of us are not alone when we poof out. We see the silver haired woman with us, still unconscious and bound by magic.
When we poofed in earlier, it was daytime but now it is night.
RC has a Sending Spell Scroll. He gives it to Brylwynn to use to communicate with Räyûvel that was given to us in S02E41. We send off a message explaining that we have a body imprisoned by a 9th level spell and need help. We’ll be in the cave outside of Nightstone.
“Oh you. I am in the Nine Hells. Figure it out yourself. Good luck.”
We reply back and ask for help or if they can help direct us in the direction of someone who can help.
Räyûvel, “I am tracking down my dead husband’s soul. Solve your own problems.”
RC picks up the Gold Chain that once held the ruby stone.
Glittr tries to meditate and see Lliira. He is atop of a mountain with a forest as far as the eye can see. He see the same unicorn like creature staring at home from atop the mountain. It goes, “Good! You have now sought me out in place of me seeking you out. This tells me you are gaining a deeper sense of what is at stake with Lliira, our goddess. You know that something is impacting her strength. I know not what, but time is running out. The barrier between the planes weakens and I suspect this is at play here. Hurry forth to the top of the mountain so that we may meet.”
Glittr asks what the creature’s name is
He also asks if he can offer help with Larael
On his way back to the material plane he sees an eye staring back at him. He is still unable to determine whose eye it is.
We come up with a plan during our rest. We are going to blow in the Conch of Teleportation to ask the Storm Giants if they can help.
While we rest, RC wakes in a similar place in his dreams. He sees Queen Titania at a long banquet table, almost like in Alice in Wonderland. She is eating and having a grand ol’ time and he finds himself seated opposite of her. “Welcome to the Feywild once again!” she says.”
“You keep pulling me here. I know we agreed that I would bring you your bow, but we’re tied up.” He tries to explain himself,but she becomes angry and poofs him away from her as she screams back, “I want it back NOW!!!”
We teleport to the Storm Kings court. They do not have access to the needed spells to get rid of Imprisonment, they cannot get to the Feywild, and they are able to teleport us to the High Forest. We decide to leave Larael in their hands for safety and they agree to watch over her.
We have them teleport us to Everlund as we have The Harper Sigil for it. They teleport us there with 100% accuracy.
We level up to level 12!!
