We are in an identical tower room on the second floor. It is a 9-walled room with portraits of the Nine Circles of Hell on each wall. We came out from behind the 4th wall, which is where the picture of Phlegethos was. Phlegethos is the 4th layer of Hell.
As we walk inside, we see the Pit Demon who speaks to us this time. He welcomes us in and reintroduces us to the three skeletons of the Erinyes. “If you can defeat these lovely ladies, the next door will open up for you.”
The fight begins. As it does, the #1 door begins to glow a reddish-green color. As it does, Baptiste jumps out of the door that we walked into moments ago down in the pit. He joins the fight. One of the skeletons attempts to grapple Pearl, but is unsuccessful. After taking a few maul blows, Edrith blasts, and crossbow bolts, one of the Erinyes falls and permanently dies after taking a crossbow from Caulkin.
We turn our attention to the other two. We take down one of them with ease. In the end, Brylwynn does the final blow to the final Eryines and as
After they die, the portrait behind the Third Layer of hell begins to glow. The pit field does not return as what happened in the first room. Baptiste shares with us that one of the walls in the pit turned into a doorway, which he entered.
We enter the portal behind the third mosaic. We emerge onto an identical tower floor. We came out through the portal behind the 3rd mosaic on the floor above. In this room, we see rows of worked white tiles. We see brown tiles laid out in front of us. They go across the room and head towards the 7th mosaic. We see the Pit Field standing off to the side. He welcomes us in. He says there are rows of worked tiles. No fighting, just wits.
Each row will consist of a variety of letters. Each row will contain 1 letter of the password that will make-up the password. We elect Glittr to step into the flames as his armour is resistant to fire damage. After selecting the wrong letter “M” he is surrounded with flames. Brylwynn solves the puzzle with the word being “Avernus”.
The puzzle ends and the mosaic of Maladomini begins to glow at wall #7 across from us. We ascended the staircase to the next floor. We see the Pitfiend standing in the center of the room. He says “I thought this would be the inevitable end of the end of this little adventuring party. Trial by combat if you will. It’s time for you to face Zariel’s greatest warrior and bodyguard.” As he says this we hear another voice say “HAULT! One moment.”
Out of the second portrait we see the form of a tiger appear. He instructs the devil to post-bone the battle and let him attack us instead.
The Pitfield agrees and the Rakasha steps forward to attack us.
The Rakasha steps forward and a quick battle ensues. After just over 6 seconds of combat, RC takes the final blow, shooting an arrow through its neck. The Rakasha’s body falls on the ground and twitches. As it dies, he transforms into all of the various people he has imitated over time; Vanneak, Glittr’s mother, Ari, and so, and so on… His body combusts in one last time as we defeat the Rakasha.
The Pitfield blips back into the room as combat starts again.
Skeletal Erinyes Reborn:
We entered the second floor’s nine-sided chamber, where the Pit Fiend summoned the skeletal forms of the three Erinyes we’ve fought before. Baptiste rejoined us mid-battle as the fight began in full.
Cutting Down the Fallen Angels:
The Erinyes attacked with renewed ferocity, but Caulkin, RC, and Brylwynn struck them down one by one, destroying their skeletal forms for good.
The Word of Flame:
The next floor presented a tile puzzle wreathed in fire. Glittr stepped onto the burning path while Brylwynn solved the password “Avernus,” unlocking the way forward.
The Tiger Returns:
Higher in the tower, the Pit Fiend prepared another combat trial, but the Rakshasa emerged from a mosaic and demanded to fight us himself, seeking vengeance for everything we’ve done.
False Faces Burn Away:
The fight lasted barely one round before RC killed the Rakshasa cleanly, its corpse flickering through past disguises before combusting, and the Pit Fiend returned to initiate the next infernal trial.
