The Wonderful Wizard of Graz

The battle resumes on the staircase. We take a few rounds running up the stairs as the 3 creatures run down towards us. The monsters cast Heat Metal at various members of our group as the battle with them three of them starts on the stairs. After a brief battle, we manage to take down the 3 creatures.

• The robot floats back down to us and is level. Baptiste thanks the robot again for its help. As a reminder, Beshaba was punished for using magic to take over the robot.

We forego a short rest to try and chase Graz’zt before he gets a chance to rest as well. We climb back up the stairs and go to the door that we were directed to by the robot. Through the door, we sense darkness, indicating it is indeed the door to the abyss. 

We talk into The Abyss and it is pitch black. As we see is the Purple hue of a shadow shard. It sounds like we’re in a cave with gross, undulating monster, ooze sound effects. The only person in the group who can really see out is Pearl. Out in the distance, she sees what looks like a pile of bones and trash.

We step forward with our Driftglobe. We hear a voice in our heads saying “Welcome to the Abyss! The voices that slain my children have finally come around!” We continue to walk forward and then we see Graz’zt ahead of us. 

We see Fey off to the far right of the room as she is held within the ribcage of a grotesque monster. During the battle, RC aims his bow at Graz’zt and says, “this will teach you to be a deadbeat dad” as he shoots the arrow straight through his skull, killing him.

• We expected his body, a devil or demon, to disappear, but he shrinks instead. His skin changes and morphs, as he turns into Fey. We realized in that moment that we had been hacking away at Fey instead of Graz’zet.

After that, we see the Fey that was off in the cage, morph back into Graz’zet. He emerges from the creature’s ribcage.
