RetCon - Brylwynn had another little lesson with Larael on how to contact the weave before we left for the Spine of the World
The battle continues and we find ourselves fighting Brother and Sister, aka Ryan and Sharpay Evans. After managing to shocking grasp Baptiste, Brother runs away and Power Word Kills Glittr, causing his 3rd death. Seeing this, Caulkin runs over to Glittr shouting “Spell activate!!!” using the Revivify that was stored in his ring of spell storing.
Throughout the battle, we are truly the underdogs. Several members of the party fall or die during the battle, ending with Baptiste making the final blow against Sister, finally killing her after her Brother fell earlier in battle.
We bring our group back, behind us as Brother and Sister’s bodies lay bleeding out. From them black ichor also oozes out, forming together causing the shape of a black spectral. We see the spectral form start talking and it says:
“Very well, you have destroyed some of my conduits to this world. Yet it is you who first brought my magic back into the material plane. Long have I suffered in this hideous Shadowfell, corrupting me, destroying my dragon visage to something twisted and foul. My energy longed for the world again, and you all brought it forth. My descendants… utilizing the weave and magic i passed down, or long cursed or lain upon them, and a creature that is mine own descendant. So now, i welcome you to bash yourselves against my might. I await you in Jalanthar. Come, defeat me if you can….”
On their bodies, we sense that Siste is wearing heavy armor is magical, +1 plate armor. Brother has a vial of magical blood tied around his neck. Pearl takes a look at the vial and recognized it as a Bloodwell Vial, adored as the Prince of the Abyss.
After the battle, Baptiste feels overwhelmed by the fact that he was able to get revenge on Brother and Sister for the death of his students.
We take a look at our surroundings and see that we are in a large field. We decide to burn the bodies of Brother and Sister so they cannot be revived after Caulkin scoops out their eyes. From the Northwest, Baptiste spots 2 figures walking toward us. This is the direction we are heading in. We all ready attacks.
As they get closer, we see the form of two Silver Dragonborn.
They put their hands up as they walked closer. They look like scouts with hide armor and bows on their backs. We manage to talk them down before they draw their weapons on us.
They glance over at Pearl, also a Silver Dragonborn, asking about her presence in the area. She lies as she tells them we were hoping to visit (insert village name here) to rest and restock, but they buy her story as she knows the name of the village.
The scouts relay that their leader has been reopening their borders to increase trade across the Ten-Towns of the Icewind Dale.
Pearl reveals that she is from the town originally, which causes them to stir alive more, announcing that Leiloferier(sp?) will be excited to welcome another Dragonborn back home.
Battle Against Brother and Sister:
The party faces off against Brother and Sister (dubbed “Ryan and Sharpay Evans”). The fight is brutal, but despite multiple party members falling, Baptiste delivers the final blow, killing Sister after Brother is defeated.
A Dark Message from the Beyond:
As Brother and Sister’s bodies bleed out, black ichor forms into a spectral figure. It speaks, revealing itself as a corrupted dragon entity trapped in the Shadowfell. It claims the party’s actions have brought its magic back to the Material Plane and challenges them to face it in Jalanthar.
Loot and Aftermath:
The party loots their bodies, finding +1 Plate Armor on Sister and a Bloodwell Vial on Brother, marked with the Prince of the Abyss’ symbol. Baptiste grapples with the weight of finally avenging his fallen students. The party burns the bodies to prevent resurrection—after Caulkin scoops out their eyes.
Unexpected Visitors:
As they recover, two Silver Dragonborn scouts approach from the northwest—the direction the party is headed. The party prepares for a fight but manages to de-escalate the situation. Pearl lies, claiming they are heading to a nearby village, which the scouts believe.
A Homecoming for Pearl?:
The scouts reveal that their leader has reopened borders for trade across Icewind Dale. When Pearl mentions she is from the region, they become excited, saying that Leiloferier will be eager to welcome another Silver Dragonborn back home.
